While Bradley Gayton is out as The Coca-Cola Co.’s top lawyer, after just eight months on the job, he’s still collecting a hefty paycheck as part of a consulting agreement that could allow him to continue pushing controversial diversity guidelines for the Atlanta-based beverage giant’s outside law firms.

Under the terms of his agreement, Gayton received a $4 million sign-on bonus to serve as an independent contractor and strategic consultant to Coca-Cola CEO James Quincey, and will rake in monthly payments totaling $8 million over the next year.
