RELATED EXPERIENCE

NEW YORK –  February 22, 2021 – Brown Rudnick Litigation & Arbitration Partner Michael Bowe, representing two victims testifying about their exploitation by Pornhub and MindGeek, appeared again before Canada’s House of Commons Ethics Committee on February 19. Bowe also addressed questions personally directed to him by the Committee seeking Bowe’s input on several issues related to the government’s inquiry into privacy and streaming websites like Pornhub.

This was the second time Bowe spoke before the House of Commons. Further to his first appearance on February 1, Bowe and his client victims accused Pornhub and MindGeek of knowingly profiting from videos depicting rape, child sexual exploitation, revenge porn, trafficking, and other nonconsensual content. Bowe testified that he has investigated hundreds of instances of illegal content on Pornhub.

“The fact of the matter is that this company is the largest depository of child pornography in North America, which we all know is flat out a crime,” said Bowe during his latest appearance. Bowe’s testimony supported the two client victims who spoke during the hearings about the harm suffered by them and countless other victims, which is why they are pushing to hold companies accountable for exploitative content.

Bowe’s appearances before the House of Commons follows his recent appearance on The Dr. Oz Show, where Bowe and a client victim called out Pornhub's practices of posting “rape videos,” as reported by The New York Times.
