Foley Hoag Partner Kenneth Figueroa to Participate in IBA Investing in Africa Conference

Foley Hoag LLP partner Kenneth Juan Figueroa will be a featured panelist at the International Bar Association’s (IBA) 3rd Annual Investing in Africa Conference, to be held in Paris on June 22-23, 2017. The two-day event is presented by the IBA African Regional Forum, and supported by the IBA European Regional Forum, the IBA Asia Pacific Regional Forum, IBA Mining Law Committee, IBA Power Law Committee, IBA Oil and Gas Law Committee and the IBA Banking Law Committee. 

Figueroa will participate in a session titled “Energy Prices and Investment in Africa: An Uncertain Prognosis,” where he will discuss and debate the most recent market trends in Africa’s oil and gas sector, the most likely risks and opportunities presented by fluctuating prices, increasing competition, and the effects of global and regional efforts to regulate energy production. Figueroa’s presentation will also examine the effectiveness of and issues concerning stabilization clauses in the energy sector through an analysis of examples in Latin America and Africa.

As a member of the International Litigation and Arbitration Department at Foley Hoag, Figueroa focuses his practice on international disputes, particularly on investor-State matters, commercial arbitration, and sovereign representation. He represents private companies, foreign States and State-owned entities before U.S. federal courts and international arbitral tribunals, including those established under the auspices of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the International Center for Dispute Resolution (ICDR).
