County Attorney’s Office Leverages Legal Files’ Ease of Use and Customization Capability

Of the many software programs I’ve had to learn and implement, Legal Files is about the easiest and most user friendly one I’ve ever used.

Working in partnership with Legal Files Software, Inc., the County of York, Virginia, has implemented its first ever legal case management system for its County Attorney’s Office, the software developer reported today.

“Of the many software programs I’ve had to learn and implement, Legal Files is about the easiest and most user friendly one I’ve ever used,” according to the County’s Daria Linsinbigler, a Senior Legal Assistant, who played a key role in the recent implementation. It was late last year when Legal Files Software was awarded a contract to provide a case management and legal case tracking system for the Office of the County Attorney. The company also provided training and implementation services as part of the agreement.

The Office, which handles numerous types of legal matters, including real estate, litigation and contracts/agreements, is already benefiting from the efficiency and convenience offered by Legal Files’ file, document email management tools, Linsinbigler said.

“Legal Files also helps us find and access documents not just more quickly, but easily too,” Linsinbigler added. “Searching for something the old way could be difficult. With Legal Files’ querying and search functions, you have everything you need at your fingertips,” she said. Another “great time saver,” she said, is the system’s Open File Wizard, a customizable tool which simplifies the file opening process and improves file creation consistency.

Legal Files’ automatic workflows and triggers are also key benefits, Deputy County Attorney Richard E. Hill, Jr. said. Hill, who had previously used a Legal Files system at the City of Richmond for many years, was the one who initially suggested the County look into using the contract management software for legal. “It’s not just that Legal Files has all these tools available,” he explained, “it’s that you can create and use them the way you want. After we created both workflows and triggers, I myself was able to go back and adjust them to reflect how I wanted them to work. When you have Legal Files, you can say, ‘That’s exactly how I want this to work.’”
