Senior representatives from top brands including Manchester United and Louis Vuitton and brand-owners such as Diageo, Reckitt and Richemont will gather to debate the global battle against counterfeiters at the inaugural Anti-Counterfeiting World Law Summit, which is being hosted by The Global Legal Post on 22 June.

The virtual conference aims to take a fresh look at the fight against fakes and will bring together the heads of IP and brand protection, policymakers, government agencies, law enforcement, technology innovators and legal advisers, collectively representing the cream of the global anti-counterfeiting community.

Speakers include Louise Butler, global head of brand protection at Diageo, Ed Barker, head of IP and legal governance at Manchester United Football Club, John Maltbie, director of civil enforcement, IP, at Louis Vuitton North America, and Claire Wood, legal director, global brand protection, at Reckitt Benckiser Group.

Fuelled by the pandemic, the volume of fake goods continues to grow at an unparalleled pace across all sectors as consumers turn increasingly to online platforms and counterfeiters embrace new opportunities. The need for brands to collaborate more effectively to combat counterfeiting globally could not be more urgent. The forum will debate what good protection looks like in the 'new normal' and how brands can keep ahead of the fast-pivoting counterfeiters.

The opening keynote will be delivered by Michael Moore, associate general counsel, trademarks and copyrights, Mattel, while on one of the many panels, speakers from Interpol and The European Observatory on Infringements of Intellectual Property Rights will debate the intricacies of preventing counterfeits from passing across borders.

Also signed up to speak is Tapio Blanc, chief trademark officer at Hoffmann-La Roche, Alastair Gray, head of digital IP enforcement and global brand protection operations at Tommy Hilfiger, Emma-Jane Tritton, lead counsel, digital IP enforcement, Richemont, and Peter Wexler, senior vice president and chief legal officer, Schneider Electric.

Sponsors include Epstein Drangel, AA Thornton, Cervieri Monsuarez, Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle, Horus, Kestenberg Siegal Lipkus, Reinhold Cohn Group and tesa scribos.
