A financial services boutique in New York and Washington, D.C., is launching in the Midwest, citing demand in Chicago from fintech and digital currency clients.

Murphy & McGonigle announced Wednesday a new office in downtown Chicago, hiring a partner from Greensfelder to manage the operation. Murphy & McGonigle, a 52-lawyer firm that already has offices in New York, Washington, D.C., and Richmond, Virginia, also carved out space in San Francisco this year. The firm is pushing into the Windy City because of its value as a financial trading center and technological hub—and in spite of the pandemic.
