DOL Secretary Faces Remote-Work Challenge After Wife Gets Covid

Labor Secretary Eugene Scalia is in quarantine at home after his wife was diagnosed with Covid-19, raising questions about his recent travel schedule and ability to complete late-term policy initiatives.

Scalia’s wife, Trish, tested positive Tuesday afternoon while the secretary tested negative that evening, the Labor Department said Tuesday night. The announcement said Scalia would begin working from home “for the time being.”

Scalia had exhibited no symptoms of the virus as of Tuesday night, the DOL said. Trish Scalia is “experiencing mild symptoms but doing well,” the department said.
