Fauci says Trump is ‘asking for trouble’ by holding rallies with no social distancing

The nation’s top infectious-disease expert criticized the Trump campaign’s public health practices on Monday, saying in an interview that the president’s decision to resume large-scale rallies without adequate social distancing was “asking for trouble.”

Pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson has paused its 60,000-person coronavirus vaccine trial after a participant fell ill with an unexplained illness.
At another point in his CNN interview, Fauci urged the Trump campaign to take down a TV ad that uses his words out of context and without permission, emphasizing that he does not wish to get involved in politics.
Coronavirus cases are rising rapidly in Europe, where several countries that controlled earlier outbreaks are now imposing new restrictions to try to slow down infections without resorting to national shutdowns.
At least 214,000 people have died of the coronavirus in the United States since February. At least 7,771,000 cases have been reported.
