The National Women’s Soccer League is tentatively planning to reopen training camps May 16, the day after the league’s moratorium on formal activities expires, making it among the earliest sports enterprises to return from the pandemic shutdown.

Sidelined since mid-March, the NWSL has extended the ban on team workouts several times and postponed the April 18 start to its eighth season. But after consulting regularly with medical experts, the NWSL has begun making plans for restricted workouts, the players’ association said.
