2 more dead of COVID-19 in Utah, total deaths at 41

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah health officials said Saturday that two more people have died of COVID-19 and 166 more cases of the illness have been confirmed.

That brings the total number of cases to 3,948 statewide, with 41 deaths, the state’s health authorities said. Another 14 people were hospitalized with symptoms COVID-19, for a total of 329.

Health officials said both deaths were females who were older than 60 and had underlying medical conditions. One was a resident of a long-term care facility, and the other was hospitalized prior to her death.

For most people, the virus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough, that clear up in two to three weeks. For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness or death.
