1 new death, 76 new cases of coronavirus in Oregon

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Oregon health officials announced one new death from the novel coronavirus Saturday and 76 new confirmed cases.

The numbers bring Oregon’s total number of cases to 2,253, the Oregon Healthy Authority. Eighty-seven people have died.

For most people, the virus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough, that clear up in two to three weeks. For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness or death.
