Coronavirus in Chicago Jail: Sarah Grady, Lawyer

Chicago’s Cook County Jail has become a coronavirus hot spot. More than 450 inmates and staff have tested positive for the virus, and two prisoners have died of apparent complications due to COVID-19. It’s the biggest known cluster in the country, but a federal judge has refused to sanction the release of inmates to stop the spread. Those in charge of Cook County say detainees who test positive are isolated and their cell mates quarantined. Sarah Grady is a lawyer who leads her firm’s Prisoners’ Rights Project, which advocates for inmates rights. She joins us to talk more on the issue.
