City Council settles suit over high-speed chase for $4.9M

The Chicago City Council on Wednesday approved a $4.9 million settlement with the estate of a woman struck and killed by an off-duty police officer in 2017.The council’s Finance Committee approved the order during its meeting on Oct. 10, after First Assistant Corporation Counsel Renai S. Rodney advised aldermen the $4.9 million payout is “in the best interest of taxpayers.”Only two members of the council voted against the order: 41st Ald. Anthony Napolitano and 28th Ward Ald.
