vLex launches Ireland’s first artificial intelligent legal research assistant.

London, September 2020 V-Lex announce their move into the Irish legal research market with AI supported legal research..

It’s bigger news than U2 in their Rattle & Hum days !

Drag & drop makes us very happy indeed

Here’s what they say about the launch…..

Vincent, a leading AI-powered legal research assistant, currently available in the UK, US and Canada, is now available for the Irish legal sector on the flagship vLex Justis platform.

By combining human search behaviour with machine speed, law firms, researchers, and law schools can now go beyond traditional research methods with easy-to-use technology to save time and enhance their work.

A new standard in legal research………..vLex’s powerful search and discovery legal research assistant, Vincent, is the first of its kind in Ireland.

By using Vincent’s intuitive drag-and-drop interface, users can now start their research from existing documents, such as Irish cases, skeleton arguments, or other legal documents.

Vincent will scan the document, searching and extracting citations, key phrases, party names and other important information, and then return a unique set of search results which would have otherwise taken hours to compile.

However, the real power of this smart tool comes from its integration with the most extensive collection of Irish case law, which will help to provide the most comprehensive results possible and provide an advantageous starting point for any research.

“As the legal landscape in Ireland grows, and the world of access to legal information changes rapidly, we stay committed to providing resources and tools that can best support our customersneeds. Vincent is a direct result of our commitment to provide our customers with premium technology that can help them adapt to new client needs and to ensure they have access to information and knowledge faster. For this reason, the launch of Vincent in Ireland is hugely exciting and will set a new standard for legal research.”

Aidan Hawes, Head of Commercial Development for vLex Global Markets.

Advancing global and Irish legal research

vLex’s investment to support lawyers, firms, academics and librarians in Ireland goes beyond their technology and coverage. vLex’s large collection of Irish legal information is empowered by partnerships with the Incorporated Council of Law Reporting for Ireland and The Bar of Ireland. These partnerships bring new authoritative and complete primary Irish law to vLex services before other providers.

The collection of primary law is further enhanced by vLex’s editorial team who curate headnotes, included on Irish cases from 1999 onwards. The legally-trained team also oversee vLex’s large-scale editorial operation, unlike any other provider, which utilises machine learning to automatically categorise and extract citations to enrich legal information.

Lastly, those within Ireland who are interested in international, comparative or foreign law, can also use vLex services to access legal information from over 130 jurisdictions on one platform. While some legal research services compartmentalise their case law collections, vLex’s approach to provide access to a world of legal information on a single service has proven to be successful in many regions of the world.

For smaller firms, in particular, this will be a great equaliser, enabling them to tap into technology previously only available to the very largest firms in the country.” John Meyers, Executive Director of the Kentucky Bar Association.
