Ever since its 2008 launch by the law firm Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, the Cadwalader Cabinet has been recognized as an innovative and practical research and intelligence platform for news and analysis of U.S. financial regulation.

Now, a content partnership between Cadwalader and legal research company Fastcase promises to make the platform even more useful to its subscribers, by providing direct links from Cabinet content to primary case law.

Through the partnership, which Cadwalader and Fastcase are announcing today, the content available to those who subscribe to the Cabinet platform or newsletter will include custom links that will enable them to view full-text case law from Fastcase’s legal research library.

Starting today, the Cabinet’s more than 17,000 active daily newsletter readers will receive direct access to the case law supplementing the Cabinet’s statutory and regulatory materials. This will allow users to go directly to relevant case law for issues that they are researching or monitoring.

“This partnership has been in development for a while, but it is particularly powerful moment for us to be providing this additional resource to our users, who may not have the full use of their ordinary resources as they or their colleagues work from home,” Steven Lofchie, a Cadwalader partner and founder of the Cabinet, said in a statement announcing the partnership.

Fastcase VP of Product Christina Steinbrecker Jack said that Cadwalader is using a white-label version of its public links API — a tool Fastcase built with the goal of empowering firms as they build their own tools for their lawyers and clients. She said that firms are often surprised to learn that Fastcase will customize its tools in this way.

“We’re thrilled that Cadwalader is co-branding the implementation, and we also support solutions where there’s no trace of Fastcase on the partner platform,” she said.

“Data-driven law firms are beginning to create a new generation of legal services for clients, and Cadwalader Cabinet is a terrific example of what that future will hold,” Ed Walters, Fastcase CEO, said in the statement. “Law firms contain enormous expertise and information assets, and the firms that can harness that expertise for the benefit of clients will be true leaders in a fast-changing time.”
