AALL eBriefing / We Are in This Together #AALLin

As I was scrolling through social media a few days ago, I saw the following comment: “Adding ‘showed up to work during the apocalypse’ to my resume.” Of course, this made me giggle and I had to reshare, but it also got me thinking. That’s what we do as law librarians and legal information professionals. We show up, even in times of crisis and uncertainty.

As we adjust to a modified work environment, I want you to know that AALL continues to be here for you. We are monitoring the ever-changing COVID-19 situation and any updates or resource suggestions can be found on our COVID-19 Updates and Resources page.

The Executive Board held an emergency meeting on Wednesday March 18, and I want to take a moment to highlight a few of the adjustments that were made as we continue on in 2020:
  • The application deadline for AALL’s grants and scholarships has been extended to May 15 (originally April 1).
  • The Executive Board Spring Meeting will be held virtually April 2-3.
  • The 2020 AALL Annual Meeting is scheduled to take place as planned for now, July 11-14 in New Orleans. As a result of the travel restrictions and other obstacles we have heard about from members, the early-bird registration deadline has been extended to June 15 (originally May 15).

Finally, as we orient ourselves to the disorienting changes in our organizations, in our communities, and in our personal lives, please know that you are not alone—your AALL community is just a click away. This is a difficult time for all of us, and I appreciate your patience, understanding, and flexibility as we navigate these uncertain times.

AALL staff remains available to assist you during this time. We are #AALLin this together. If you have questions, please contact AALL’s Headquarters Office at 312.939.4764.
