Wildy BIALL Law Librarian of the Year Award 2018 awarded

Congratulations to Loyita Worley who’s  the recipient of the 2018 Wildy BIALL Law Librarian of the Year Award.

The British and Irish Association of Law Librarians (BIALL) has awarded the BIALL Wildy BIALL Law Librarian of the Year 2018 to Loyita Worley. The award was presented by Anneli Sarkanen, President of BIALL, at the BIALL Annual Dinner at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole on 8th June 2018.

The Wildy BIALL Law Librarian of the Year award is presented each year to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the work of BIALL or the legal information world.

Loyita began her career in information at the British Standards Institution and moved from there to the Civil Aviation Authority and then Law Society. She is currently director of Library Operations at a global law firm. She has been a member of BIALL and a truly supportive friend and colleague to our members for many years. She was over the years carried out the varied roles of Membership Secretary, was Chair of the Association, Member of Council, and has been a member of the Professional Development Committee, chaired the Publications Committee and the Legal Information Management Editorial Board.

Loyita was instrumental in establishing the series Joint Study Institutes which also involved our sister associations AALL, CALL/ACBD  and ALLA. Their involvement with the JSI programme earned this person the respect and affection of law librarians throughout the international legal information  community

She  was also co-editor of the BIALL Handbook of Legal Information Management published by Ashgate in 2014 and they were previously was awarded Life Membership of BIALL in recognition of their contribution to legal information

 

The British and Irish Association of Law Librarians (BIALL), established in 1969, is an independent and self-supporting body promoting better management of law libraries and legal information units in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland. BIALL represents the interests of law librarians, legal information professionals, and other suppliers of legal literature and reference materials.

BIALL has over 800 members, both personal and institutional, who work in the courts, Government departments, higher education, chambers, law firms, professional bodies, commercial and other organisations with legal information units, and in publishing and book supply.

BIALL provides training courses, conferences, journals and other publications, a website, mailing list, bursaries, and meetings for members. It promotes awards for excellence, and also co-operates with other organisations both nationally and internationally.
