Tweets are now mobile search friendly.
Google and Twitter announced Tuesday that tweets will now come up in all mobile searches and platforms: iOS, Android, Google app or simple mobile browsers.
If a smartphone user were to search for “Kim Kardashian Twitter” then they’ll see a scrolling bar of tweets from the reality TV star at the top of the search results. The same goes with other celebrities and agencies like NASA.
“It’s a great way to get real-time info when something is happening,” Ardan Arac, senior product manager for Google, wrote on the company blog. “And it’s another way for organizations and people on Twitter to reach a global audience at the most relevant moments.”
Users will also be able to search for hashtags. Whenever a hashtag like #Deflategate, #BBMAs or #Ferguson are typed into the search bar, a list of popular tweets with that hashtag will appear.
Broad searches will also make tweets appear in the search results. Key phrases like “Mad Men” and “Malcom X” will populate tweets because they are things a broad group of people are talking about online.
The new service is only available in English at the moment, but Google said it’s working on bringing more languages and implementing the service on desktop.
