Web retailer Amazon.com and publishing house HarperCollins agreed upon print and e-book sales deal for next several years. The contract will enable HarperCollins for continued sale of its print and digital books on Amazon platforms. The financial terms of the deal were not revealed.

Amazon, which holds almost 60 percent of the e-book market, had been trying to sort out an issue with HarperCollins on pricing of digital books. It has signed agreement with Simon & Schuster, Macmillan and Hachette during the end of last year.

The web retailer has been resorting to a special strategy of selling titles at deep discounts. They have been claiming that discounts would boost volumes and thus will result in earning more revenues. Publishers have been against the discount sale, fearing drop in their revenue.
