Gibson Dunn Hires Former SEC Official From Sidley in Washington

Gibson Dunn has hired Thomas Kim, former chief counsel for the Securities and Exchange Commission’s corporation finance division, from Sidley Austin in Washington.

Kim advises clients on securities disclosure and regulation, including capital raising and tender offer transactions, shareholder activism, and corporate governance. He also assists clients with SEC enforcement investigations.

The changeover to a Biden administration is expected to bring new faces and spur new priorities across key federal agencies including the SEC. The commission is widely expected to become a tougher regulator than it was under outgoing chairman Jay Clayton.
