K&L Gates has continued the expansion of its corporate practice in Tokyo after welcoming back Tsuguhito Omagari as a corporate/M&A partner from local firm Sonderhoff & Einsel.

The rehire of Omagari comes a month after the addition of M&A specialist Dale M. Araki as a partner in K&L Gates’ Tokyo office from Morrison & Foerster.

Omagari began his career with Clifford Chance in 2002, before moving to K&L Gates as a counsel in 2011. He joined Sonderhoff last year. His practice focuses on domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, private investment in public entities (PIPEs), private equity, domestic and international joint ventures and real estate investment transactions.

During his previous stint at K&L Gates, Omagari was part of the team that advised Japan Airlines on its acquisition of 31 Airbus A350 planes, along with options for a further 25 aircraft.

The Tokyo office, which was established in 2010, now has more than 20 lawyers, including 12 partners.
