Two Akerman partners in Miami have moved to Greenberg Traurig.

L. Frank Cordero has joined Greenberg Traurig's tax practice, and Leanne Reagan is now part of the firm's employee benefits and compensation practice. At Akerman, a rival Florida-based Am Law 100 firm, Cordero chaired the federal tax practice and Reagan was a partner in the employee benefits and executive compensation practice.

"We are thrilled to have Frank and Leanne joining us, where they will add to our already robust tax and employee benefits practices," said Yosbel A. Ibarra, co-managing partner of the Miami office.

Cordero specializes in mergers and acquisitions involving public and private companies, both domestic and foreign, and private equity funds. He had previously worked as an associate at Greenberg from 1990 to 1994. "The firm firm is considered a top player in the M&A market in Florida and that success will provide an opporunity for me to continue to grow my practice," Cordero said in a statement.

Reagan's practice focuses on advising public and private companies on the design and implementation of employee benefit plans. "In joining Greenberg Traurig, I have a larger platform that allows me to significantly expand the transactional side of my work and better meet the needs of my clients," Reagan said in a statement.

Akerman and Greenberg Traurig, as well as Holland & Knight, are the only three Florida-based law firms that ranked on the 2018 Am Law 100, putting them among the nation's highest-grossing firms.
