Goodwin Procter has hired debt finance specialist Daniel Lindsey as a partner in its private equity practice in Hong Kong from Kirkland & Ellis.

Lindsey has a specific focus on private-equity driven, cross-border leveraged finance transactions. His clients include private equity firms and technology, media, and life sciences companies.

“A leveraged finance lawyer of the first order, Daniel brings his substantial experience in the private equity space to Goodwin’s clients across Hong Kong and the broader Asia region. We are thrilled to welcome him to the firm,” said Yash Rana, chair of Goodwin’s Hong Kong office said in a statement.

Lindsey started his career with Linklaters in 2007, before joining Kirkland in February 2016.

After several lawyers left Goodwin’s Hong Kong office in 2016, the firm has been on a bit of a hiring spree. Last year, it nabbed Paul Hastings partners Douglas Freeman and Victor Chen, and in May this year, it welcomed aboard former Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton associate Bosco Yiu.

Goodwin now has 18 lawyers in Hong Kong, including seven partners.

Kirkland’s Hong Kong office has seen a lot of comings and goings this year. It brought on board Meng Ding from Davis Polk & Wardwell, Richard Sharpe from Clifford Chance, Ram Narayan from Sullivan & Cromwell and Wanda Woo from Shearman & Sterling, but also lost Benjamin Su to Latham & Watkins, and Henry Cheng to DLA Piper.
