Paul Hastings has hired a pair of corporate partners for its Hong Kong office: Samuel Ng, who joins from Morrison & Foerster, and Jason Kuo, who was previously with Troutman Sanders.
Ng specialises in corporate finance and securities matters, including securities offerings, M&A, corporate restructurings, private equity investments and other corporate transactions in Hong Kong and China, as well as regulatory and compliance work. He was named as one of Asian Legal Business’ 40 Under 40 in 2015. Earlier, Ng worked with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange as a securities market regulator handling IPOs and listing applications as well as ongoing and transactional compliance of listed companies.
Kuo’s area of focus is securities transactions, including IPOs, debt offering, tender offers, private placements, and pre-IPO venture capital investments He also advises on U.S. corporate and regulatory matters, such as OFAC, CFIUS, and FCPA.
Previously, Kuo was a partner at Troutman Sanders until the firm closed its Asia offices in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing this summer. Prior to that, he worked with Sidley Austin for 18 years, joining as an associate before moving up the ranks to become a partner.
This is the third corporate partner hire that Paul Hastings has made in Asia this year. In January, the firm brought Eiji Kobayashi on board in Tokyo from Norton Rose Fulbright.
