Greenberg Traurig has hired Joel H. Rothstein as the chair of Asia real estate practice from Sidley Austin. Initially based in New York, Rothstein is expected to relocate to Tokyo.

Rothstein advises on global real estate matters focusing on finance, acquisitions and dispositions, private equity and cross-border platforms and joint ventures as well as on U.S. and Asia-based real estate investments, both inbound and outbound.

Prior to his time with Sidley Austin, Rothstein was chairman of Paul Hastings’ Beijing office.

The Tokyo office of U.S. law firm Greenberg Traurig has hired real estate lawyers Yuko Ino and Koh Ueda as shareholder and of counsel, respectively, from Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe. Ino was previously head of Orrick’s Tokyo real estate team.
