Loeb & Loeb Continues Trusts and Estates Growth with Addition of Partner Todd Steinberg in Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (February 13, 2018) – Loeb & Loeb LLP today announced that Todd I. Steinberg has joined the Washington D.C. office as a partner in the firm’s nationally recognized Trusts and Estates Department. Steinberg’s arrival expands the firm’s preeminent private client platform serving high net worth individuals, families, closely held businesses and nonprofit organizations.

“We are proud of Loeb’s standing as one of the nation’s premier law firms for trusts and estates matters, and the addition of an attorney with Todd’s pedigree demonstrates our sustained commitment to this key area of practice,” said Loeb & Loeb Chairman Kenneth R. Florin. “D.C. remains a very important market for our firm and we are delighted to further grow our presence there with a strategic hire like Todd.”

Steinberg focuses his practice on estate and income tax planning for high net worth individuals and their families. He assists clients with multi-generational wealth preservation and accumulation, as well as probate and trust administration, and charitable planned giving. He has substantial experience in complex, post-death estate and trust administration as well as fiduciary litigation matters. Steinberg has represented many clients in IRS estate and gift tax examinations, IRS appeals and related state and federal tax controversy matters. He also implements business succession and transition planning for privately held companies, business owners and entrepreneurs. In addition, he has a particular depth of experience in planning with life insurance products and regularly provides counsel to allied professionals in the insurance industry.

Bruce J. Wexler, co-chair of Loeb & Loeb’s Trusts and Estates Department commented: “Todd is a talented attorney with deep and diverse experience who will be a terrific asset to our clients and our team in D.C. and nationally. It’s a pleasure to welcome him.”

“Beyond the obvious complement to the firm’s comprehensive trusts and estates practice, Todd’s background and skill set offer great potential synergy with our robust practice addressing the needs of tax-exempt organizations,” added Marcus S. Owens, partner in Loeb & Loeb’s Washington, D.C. office and former director of the IRS Exempt Organizations Division.

“Loeb’s trusts and estates group knows no match and the firm provides me with an unparalleled platform to continue to build my practice and serve my clients locally in Maryland, the District of Columbia and Virginia, as well as nationally, at the highest possible level,” said Steinberg.

Prior to joining Loeb & Loeb, Steinberg was a shareholder at Greenberg Traurig in the firm’s Northern Virginia office. He received his J.D. from the George Washington University School of Law and his B.A. from George Washington University in International Affairs and Economics, with a minor in Soviet Studies.

Steinberg’s arrival at Loeb follows the addition of a six-attorney trusts and estates group led by partners Jordan A. Klein, James W. Hitzeman and Kathleen O’Hagan Scallan, who joined the firm’s Chicago office last August, as well as the addition of trusts and estates litigator Rodney Lee who joined in Los Angeles in July 2017.

Loeb & Loeb’s Trusts and Estates Department represents a broad base of individuals in connection with sophisticated estate, tax and business succession planning services, and trust and estate administration. The practice also counsels businesses, fiduciaries and tax-exempt organizations in a wide variety of matters, ranging from estate plans and the settlement of complex estate tax issues, to the resolution of multimillion-dollar disputes over the distribution of family wealth.
