$20M Brooklyn penthouse poised to break record

A Brooklyn penthouse at the 30-story Quay Tower is in contract for more than $20 million — and if the deal closes, it will be the borough’s most expensive home sale. The news was first reported by the Wall Street Journal.

The current record holder of Brooklyn’s priciest home sale is a Cobble Hill townhouse that sold for $15.5 million in 2015. (Matt Damon, meanwhile, is in contract to nab a Brooklyn Heights penthouse that was asking $16.64 million, but the Journal notes that deal doesn’t seem to have closed yet.)

The buyer is a New York family in finance, sources told The Post, that is combining two penthouses in the building — in Brooklyn Bridge Park at Pier 6 — to create a 7,433-square-foot spread with a 1,179-square-foot terrace.

The views are “absolutely insane,” says a source involved in the deal, because “you can see all of New York Harbor, Manhattan and the East River” from the trophy home.

The Brooklyn Heights apartment features modern interiors by LA-based designers Marmol Radziner, whose celeb clients include Demi Moore and Anthony Kiedis.
