From the Forum: When Excavation Work Triggers an Engineering Audit

Homeowners were surprised that excavating work for a two-story addition to their house triggered an engineering audit and they aren’t sure how to respond. The audit is focused on SOE, or support of excavation, to ensure that the proper systems are in place for the safety of the public and any adjacent properties during work. What should they be prepared to have their engineer or architect provide for the audit?
