Maria J. DiConza, a shareholder in the New York office of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, will speak at the American Bankruptcy Institute's (ABI) 20th Annual New York City Bankruptcy Conference, May 24, at the Hilton Midtown. This year's conference features various panels and topics that will provide practical techniques and tips for navigating the current insolvency market. Greenberg Traurig is a sponsor of the event and Nancy A. Mitchell, co-chair of the Restructuring & Bankruptcy Practice, is on the advisory board.

DiConza will speak on the "Municipal Bankruptcies" panel, which will focus on recent issues in municipality filings, such as the ability of public utilities/public service entities to file under the Bankruptcy Code, interactions with state and federal law, and tax-exempt economic-development bonds.

DiConza focuses her practice on complex financial restructuring transactions and Chapter 11 debtor representations, primarily for middle market companies. She has restructuring experience in numerous industries, including the manufacturing, municipal, for-profit education, health care, energy, and financial services sectors and is currently advising the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority, the Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority, and the City of Hartford, Connecticut, in their restructuring efforts. DiConza has been listed in The Legal 500 U.S. and Marquis Who's Who in the World, and was a member of several teams that have received Global M&A Network's Turnaround Atlas Awards.
