New York's Lieutenant Governor Antonio Delgado (D-New York), a Schenectady native, was in Albany Wednesday. He made an appearance on Broad Street for an announcement from Sunrise Wind, the Center for Economic Growth and the Greater Capital Region Building and Construction Trades Council.

The organizations announced a $300,000 dollar investment in an apprenticeship program for training in the offshore wind workforce, through a program called MAP, that seeks to get more women and people of color into the construction trade.

Today we are here to celebrate a significant investment in the people in Albany's South End, and I say ‘in the people’, because the funding. Today will be for unionized construction apprenticeships,” Delgado said.

After today's event our crew went to ask the Lt. Governor about recent calls from the New York City mayor and the Albany County District Attorney for Governor Kathy Hochul to bring back lawmakers to the Capitol for a special session to address reforms to criminal justice legislation, but the Lt. Governor said he did not have time to stop and answer and drove away.
