Glad to be back to ‘normal’ government

To the editor:

Instead of attacking me and my opinions, (letter to the editor, “Thank you, Elise Stefanik,” June 18) Keith Wells should simply state his opinions and give supporting information on those opinions.

Yes, we are all entitled to our opinions and it is my opinion that I defend with all my being that Elise Stefanik is trying to hoodwink people. Ever since she hitched her wagon to the great conman Trump, she has changed. She even voted against the legal certification of Joe Biden as president. Brave Republicans? They have done everything they can to undermine the Biden administration. That’s just un-American and helps our enemies. The Congress used to work together for the good of the American people. Now, if one of the Republicans doesn’t toe the line, they are threatened and another candidate will be put forward to shove them out. The brave ones are Rep. Liz Cheney and Rep. Adam Kinzinger.

Blaming Joe Biden for the gas prices isn’t realistic. Prices are up worldwide. Joe did not shut down our domestic oil production. If the reference is to the Keystone XL pipeline, building the pipeline and opening up the Tar Sands would negatively impact national and local economies. It’s very costly to refine and would be damaging to the ecology and wildlife. It hadn’t been built. Why is Joe responsible for baby formula shortages? He jumped into action to bring formula in from Australia and Europe … dispatching our military to transport it. They are the best logisticians. Abbott Labs has a lot to answer for.

In summary, after the truly scary Trump presidency (twice impeached), I am so thankful for the Biden administration. At least we are back to a normal government.
