Border Patrol stopped 15 people who were on the FBI's terror watch list from crossing the U.S.-Mexico border last month, according to Customs and Border Patrol statistics. There have been 50 arrests of migrants on the Terrorist Screening Database since October, according to Border Patrol.

"While DHS has accounted for 50 individuals found on the terror watch list attempting to enter the country just this year, recent reports of a staggering number of known 'got-aways' would indicate that we cannot be certain exactly how many watch-listed individuals have entered the United States amidst the chaos at our southwest border," said Rep. John Katko.

In April, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas testified that there were more than 389,000 'got-aways' in 2021.

Mark Morgan, former acting commissioner of Customs and Border Patrol, said "if you ask most Border Patrol agents, that number is well in excess of over a million" got-aways in 2022.

"The 50 illegal aliens encountered and apprehended on the FBI's Terrorist Screening Database — look, that's not the whole story," said Morgan to The National Desk's Jan Jeffcoat. "I think it's absolutely not hyperbolic to say, and be concerned, that the next terrorist attack being planned could already be here in the United States."
