There's indications the wide-ranging Assembly investigation into former Governor Andrew Cuomo could wrap up soon.

This Assembly investigation started with the possibility of it ending in an impeachment of Andrew Cuomo. That changed with Cuomo's resignation.

There was then talk that their efforts might just stop there. However, the committee's work has continued, and the finish line could now be in sight.

While the sexual harassment allegations against Cuomo have gotten a lot of attention, the assembly's investigation hasn't just been focused on that. It also incorporates the nursing home COVID-19 death count scandal, Cuomo's pandemic book deal, the new Mario M. Cuomo Bridge project, and preferential COVID testing resources for Cuomo family members.

On the sexual harassment allegations, new reporting from The Times Union suggests subpoenaed documents support the claims made by Brittany Commisso about alleged sexual harassment at the Executive Mansion.

CBS 6 News spoke with Republican Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh, and Democratic Assemblyman Phil Steck. They're both on the Judiciary Committee, and while they wouldn't get into specifics, they say questions will be answered soon.

"I will say that we have gathered quite a bit of evidence that I think will help to address that question - I'm really hopeful, let's put it that way, I'm really hopeful that it's going to be this month,” said Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh (R-Ballston).
"There was so much investment made in hiring the lawyers and all the time they spent gathering the evidence that it would seem to just not to make sense to me not to have a report issued,” said Assemblyman Phil Steck (D-Colonie).

Asm. Steck also commented on NYS Attorney General Letitia James’ bombshell report on the sexual harassment allegations against Cuomo, and Cuomo attorney Rita Glavin's criticisms of it.

“I don't think the arguments made by the Governor's counsel are very material. And certainly attacking the Attorney General, I think, is absurd,” Asm. Steck said.

Neither lawmaker would commit to a definite timeline as to when a final report will be issued by the judiciary committee since it's ongoing.
