NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams is exploring a run for governor next year.

But on Tuesday, he endorsed Democrat Khalid Bey for Syracuse mayor.

Bey is running against Incumbent and Independent Mayor Ben Walsh and Republican Janet Burman.

If elected, Bey would be the city’s first black mayor.

"That's obviously a great thing, but we have to be clear, that is like some sprinkling on top of all the things that he's already accomplished and all the vision that I've heard him express on how to move things forward," explained Williams.

Attorney General Letitia James was in Syracuse on Tuesday also announcing settlement money coming to the area from lawsuits against opioid manufacturers.

We asked her press team if we could ask who she would endorse for mayor, since Mayor Ben Walsh was at the event.

The attorney general is also rumored to run for governor, and left without taking any off-topic questions.

Election Day is on November 2nd.
