After President Biden unveiled his $4 trillion proposal to Congress Wednesday, Congressman John Katko says he hopes that negotiations remain bipartisan.

The congressman says he's willing to work with Democrats to fix infrastructure in America, but says the rest of the president's plan goes too far.

The plan wants to fix thing like highways and outdated water and electric systems across the country as well as reform education and social services.

Biden said his plan would be paid for through tax increases on top earners and corporations.

Katko says he's been frustrated that Biden is not being as bipartisan as he promised before the election.

"After the inauguration, he rammed through a very partisan pandemic relief package," Katko said Thursday. "And we don't want to see that again with infrastructure, and it's incumbent upon all of us to bend event to get something done. And so I'm absolutely positively willing to work with him on an infrastructure package. And that's one of the big things that I hope we can get done."

Katko says he wouldn't be opposed to splitting off the infrastructure portion of the president's plan for a separate vote.
