Garbarino Votes For The Further Consolidated Appropriations Act

March 22, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. -  Today,  Congressman Andrew R. Garbarino voted in favor of The Further Consolidated Appropriations Act, which provides funding for the remaining six of twelve appropriations bills for Fiscal Year 2024. Rep. Garbarino released a statement following his vote:

“Bolstering our national defense and securing our border are essential for the safety of the American people. This legislation accomplishes that while cutting wasteful non-defense spending. With the passage of this bill, our troops will see the largest increase in basic pay in over two decades. Our military will see investments in next-generation fighter aircraft, helicopters, tactical combat vehicles, and submarines. This bill provides funding to defense manufacturers in NY-02 who contribute to our national defense and stimulate our local economy and increases funding to counter CCP aggression and for counternarcotics efforts. We also secured the highest level of funding ever for Border Patrol Agents and funding for more ICE detention beds and border security technology to help mitigate the crisis caused by the Biden Administration’s failed policies. Additionally, this legislation includes $150 million I helped secure for breast cancer research and funds other important medical research and programs, including for alzheimer’s, diabetes, lupus, and more. It funds the firefighter cancer registry to help us understand and reduce cancer risk for our first responders.I’m proud to have cast my vote for this critical legislation that takes meaningful steps to address our nation’s security concerns while spending responsibly.”
