Trump Accuses Andrew Cuomo of Having ‘Meltdown’ After NY Gov Says America ‘Was Never That Great’

On Wednesday, President Donald Trump accused New York Governor Andrew Cuomo of having a “meltdown.”

“‘WE’RE NOT GOING TO MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, IT WAS NEVER THAT GREAT,'” Trump tweeted out, quoting Cuomo. “Can you believe this is the Governor of the Highest Taxed State in the U.S., Andrew Cuomo, having a total meltdown!”

Trump’s tweet comes after Cuomo made waves for his remark during a bill signing.

“We’re not going to make America great again. It was never that great,” Cuomo said in the context of gender and women’s equality.

The New York governor continued on, “We have not reached greatness. We will reach greatness when every American is fully engaged. We will reach greatness when discrimination and stereotyping of women, 51% of our population, is gone, and every woman’s full potential is realized and unleashed and every woman is making her full contribution.”

In addition to Trump’s tweet, Lara Trump, Senior Advisor to Donald J. Trump for President, Inc. also issued a statement claiming Cuomo “defamed America” with his remarks.

“Today, Andrew Cuomo showed his true, pessimistic colors when he defamed America as a country that was ‘never that great,’” she said in the statement.

She added: “President Trump is leading us on the path to greatness like we’ve never seen before, with a booming economy that’s creating millions of jobs, record unemployment and wage growth, the lowest female unemployment in 65 years; as well as new paths to peace, and so much more. Donald Trump’s eternal optimism about America is what people value in a leader committed to delivering real solutions for our country.”

In response to President Trump’s jab, Cuomo tweeted a response, writing, “What you say would be ‘great again’ would not be great at all…We will not go back to discrimination, segregation, sexism, isolationism, racism or the KKK.”
