During a visit to the Boys & Girls Club of Syracuse Tuesday, Congressman John Katko touched on President Trump's visit to Central New York, future debates with his democrat competitor Dana Balter, and if he plans to host the president in the future.

Rep. Katko stopped by the Boys & Girls Club to highlight his support for the The Summer Meals Act, which would allow a greater number of community-based organizations to distribute meals to at-risk children.

The Summer Nutrition Program provides federal funding to serve nutritious meals and snacks during summer break when low-income children lose access to free and reduced-price school meals.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Syracuse, works with the Syracuse City School District, to provide over 200 meals to local children in need each day.

Katko also touched on President Trump's visit to Central New York Monday, saying he supports the signing of the John S. McCain National Defense Authorization Act. The republican representative added that he's a big supporter of Fort Drum, and is excited for military families who will see the first pay increase in nearly a decade.

When asked if the congressman would ever personally host President Trump, he said, "anything that will help advance my constituents, i'll have them -- we'll see what happens."

Katko added that when he hosted Vice President Mike Pence at Nucor Steel in Auburn, White House Adviser Ivanka Trump at P-Tech in Syracuse, and Secretary of Energy Rick Perry at Fitzpatrick nuclear plant, each visit was aimed at the working people of Central New York and highlighting the area's businesses.

The congressman also noted that his campaign plans to hold three or four debates with his democrat competitor Dana Balter in the fall.
