Newtown Company, Murphy Investigate Competitor: Report

A Newtown-based company began investigating a competitor and enlisted Sen. Chris Murphy's help.

NEWTOWN, CT — Sen. Chris Murphy teamed up with a local company to help investigate a competitive company that was allegedly not paying duty on products shipped from China, reports the News Times. The Democrat helped the Newtown-based Wind Group investigate an unnamed competitor after it continuously undercut Wind Group's normally competitive prices.

The U.S. Customs and Border Control found that the company was not only not paying duty, but the Canadian-based competitor was also switching product into unmarked boxes.

Wind believes the company will believes the competitor will be fined or imprisoned, and hopes it does not have to take legal action.

The company was not named due to the ongoing investigation.
