CONGRESSMAN ADRIANO ESPAILLAT MARKS THE BEGINNING OF ROSH HASHANAH

September 20, 2017

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) issued the following statement in recognition of the start of Rosh Hashanah:

"Tonight marks the beginning of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. It is a time to come together with family and friends to reflect on the past year and to celebrate the upcoming one. As we reflect on the past year, we contemplate the many hardships our community and our country have faced, and how we have worked together to overcome them," said Rep. Espaillat. "We explore the mistakes we have made and ask forgiveness from those we have wronged. We look forward, to learn from the past year in order to better ourselves and our community in the coming year.

"Though not all Americans celebrate Rosh Hashanah, we can each take this time to reflect and evaluate the past year and consider how we may improve ourselves in the year to come. This is a time to build our community, to come together, and embrace those we love. We celebrate the lives we are fortunate enough to live.

"As we mark the start of Rosh Hashanah, I extend a warm and sincere shanah tovah u'metukah to the Jewish community throughout New York's 13th Congressional District. May your New Year be full of health and happiness, and may we all enjoy a sweet year to come."
