Rep. Donovan participates in energy security summit in Norway
Rep. Dan Donovan (R-NY) announced Wednesday that he would participate in a policy conference on U.S. energy security, which will take place in Oslo, Norway.
The conference, Energy for America: Opportunities, Challenges and Solutions, will cover topics including energy defense policies, anti-terror preparedness, alternative energy, industry research and development and global market demands.
“To meet the energy needs of the future, Congress must support affordable, reliable, and secure energy solutions,” Donovan said. “Our energy infrastructure must be able to withstand terror threats and high demand, while also benefiting consumers and creating a more robust energy market. I’m pleased to join my colleagues and leading experts to help develop solutions to meet these challenges, as well as discuss innovative policies that will ensure U.S. energy security for the 21st century.”
Donovan plans to discuss the importance of protecting U.S. energy infrastructure from cyber, terror and extreme weather threats. Anti-terror and emergency preparedness policies fall under the jurisdiction of the House Subcommittee on Emergency Preparedness, Response, and Communications, which Donovan chairs.
The Aspen Institute Congressional Program, which provides Senators and Representatives with opportunities to explore public policy issues with internationally recognized experts, is sponsoring the conference.
