Dorothy "Chickie" O'Hazzo Maguschak, 95, passed into the arms of the Lord on Thursday with her sons at her side.
She was the daughter of the late John and Susan (Kaschak) O'Hazzo.
Dorothy was an active member of Ss. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church where she found immense joy in singing in the church choir and participating in making pirohi for fundraisers.
She was also a member of the GCU.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Joseph Maguschak, in 2008; her son, Joseph, in 1977; and her brothers, Harold O'Hazzo and his wife, Elenaor; John O'Hazzo; Eugene O'Hazzo; brothers-in-law, Robert Maguschak; Elmer Maguschak and his wife, Eleanor; Michael Maguschak and his wife, Ruth; and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Mikulca and her husband, Peter.
She is survived by her two sons, Mark Maguschak and his wife, Elizabeth (Dougherty), Hazleton; and David Maguschak, at home; her beloved grandchildren, Joseph and Molly Maguschak; a brother, Raymond O'Hazzo and his companion, Kathryn Garcia, Florida; her two sisters-in-law, Clara Maguschak, Tennessee; and Lydia O'Hazzo, Hershey; and many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy adored her two grandchildren and loved to watch them in their many theatrical productions while proudly seeing them grow as young adults in their academic and career-oriented pursuits.
Their shared laughter and smiles were what kept her going during her final years.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday with divine liturgy with Office of Christian Burial at Ss. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church.
Interment will be in the Parish Cemetery.
Friends and relatives may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday prior to the funeral.
