Cuomo claims he’s never discussed his political plans with Trump

Gov. Andrew Cuomo insisted Tuesday he never talked to President Trump about his future political plans.

During a campaign fundraiser in Utica on Monday night, Trump claimed Cuomo once called him and pledged to “never” run against him.

“But maybe he wants to,” Trump said, taunting, “Please do it. Please do it. Please! The one thing we know, anybody that runs against Trump suffers. That’s the way it should be.”

But Cuomo said Trump’s memory is faulty.

“I don’t have any personal, political conversations with the president,” said Cuomo after checking on flood damage in upstate Seneca County.

“I talk to the president, I talk to the president about policy issues facing the people of this state. I do disagree with the president.”

With a chance to get in a political jab, Cuomo added: “If I were president of the United States, I would not be trying to roll back a woman’s right to choose … I would not be ripping babies out of the arms of their mothers. I wouldn’t be afraid of the NRA and bending over backwards while we have so many lives being lost.”

He also complained that Trump and the GOP Congress scaled back state and local tax deductions for wealthy New Yorkers.
