The symbolism was almost corny: Zephyr Teachout being endorsed in her uphill run for State Attorney General by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, fresh off an even unlikelier upset of Congressman Joe Crowley, in front of the “Charging Bull” sculpture on lower Broadway July 12.
Earlier this year, the symbol of Wall Street had a conflicting statue of “Fearless Girl” for company. And Ms. Teachout, the Fordham Law Professor who had taken on Governor Cuomo four years ago as an underfunded unknown and done surprisingly well by getting 34 percent of the Democratic primary vote, told the young people gathered on her behalf in numbers larger than the horde of journalists present that Ms. Ocasio-Cortez was “the fearless girl” come to life.
