New York Democratic Congressman Tom Suozzi gave some hair-raising opinions about delicate New York political matters.
Asked on the “Bill Press Show” for his thoughts on the 2020 White House race, Suozzi said that Gov. Andrew Cuomo — who is gearing up for the 2018 gubernatorial election — “is definitely running for president of the United States of America, I think.”
Suozzi, the rep for New York’s 3rd district on Long Island, added, “That’s just his DNA . . . He’s a political genius. He’s not an easy person to deal with one-on-one, personally.”
But he said that Cuomo is “very good at working the system, so to speak.” Meanwhile, he commented of another hot contender for the Democratic ticket, New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, “she’s not in New York that much,” but he added, “she’s very smart.”
Gillibrand and Cuomo made headlines of another kind this week when it was revealed that Cuomo dipped into his campaign war chest to buy Gillibrand a $212 Tiffany pen for her 50th birthday.
