Imagine a hearing room full of high-definition monitors replacing the millions of paper folders involved in your trial. From mediations and arbitrations to massive class actions, innovative eHearing technology allows you to go paperless. By transforming how your legal team works you can make trial processes easier, quicker, and more cost-effective.

WHAT IS AN eHEARING?

An alternative to costly, paper bundles, documents in an eHearing are submitted and collated in an electronic court book controlled by an eHearing provider. Instead of paginated hard copies in tabulated folders, documents appear on high-definition monitors set up around the hearing room, allowing remote participation in real-time. These monitors are controlled by an independent operator, supplied by the eHearing provider. Counsel simply needs to read out the document ID and everyone— including the judge or tribunal, witness, counsel and clients—will see it on the screen in seconds.

FIVE REASONS TO GO PAPERLESS

  1. Fast, secure access to documents
eHearing documents are presented up to 30% faster than in a paper-based hearing. The electronic court book documents are accessible 24/7, fully searchable, and securely backed up and stored. Each party’s court book database is entirely independent, ensuring that notes and annotation within the documents will not be shared with the opposing side. Additionally, any time a document is referred to during the hearing, it automatically becomes an exhibit and is coded in the Online Review Book.
  2. Reductions in cost
eHearings negate the need for paper documents. This leads to significant savings on paper-related expenses such as printing, collating, paginating, updating and repaginating paper bundles, shipping, archiving, exhibit management and manual tracking of documents.
  3. Better evidence presentation
Every document is seen on a high-definition display, ensuring everything from complex spreadsheets to poor quality documents are legible and retain their electronic functionality. Documents can be brought up side-by-side, zoomed in or out and even have specific sections enlarged.
  4. More efficient workflow
Managing documents in a paper-based trial takes up a substantial amount of your legal team’s valuable time. The electronic court book reduces paper handling, makes updates easier and automates evidence management tasks.
  5. Access to a hyperlinked transcript
A fully hyperlinked transcript is provided, which includes links to documents referenced within the transcript, as well as a list detailing the times a particular document was referred to.
