Gilbert + Tobin was today awarded the Best Teamwork award at the inaugural Online Courts Hackathon in London.

The 24 hour event was organised by the Society for Computers and Law, Legal Geek, the Judiciary of England and Wales and HM Courts & Tribunals Service. It attracted more than 200 participants and challenged teams to design various tools to support online courts.

Gilbert + Tobin’s team included lawyers Connor Hogg and Peter Pereira, technolegal Adrian Agius and digital designer Kristina Main. The team developed an application called “iReckon”, which leveraged data analytics to predict case outcomes based on empirical evidence.

The proposed introduction of online courts in England and Wales represents a significant reform to the justice system and aims to provide greater access to justice at lower cost than the conventional court system.
