Hooper, Lundy and Bookman has appointed Andrew Woodmansee to head up a new IP practice at the firm.
Woodmansee, who will be based in the firm’s San Diego office, has joined from Jones Day, where he served as a partner.
He has 23 years’ patent litigation experience representing a range of health care and life sciences clients in the US, primarily in the medical devices, diagnostics and pharmaceutical industries.
Robert Lundy, the firm’s chairman of the board and managing partner, said that Woodmansee “works hard to truly understand his clients’ business, products and the competitive landscape in order to tailor a legal strategy that will meet business objectives”.
Speaking on his appointment, Woodmansee said: “To be able to come in and start an IP practice to support and expand those efforts—to be our clients’ guide through the thickets of the IP world—is a great thrill.”
Mark Johnson, managing partner of the firm’s San Diego office, said that with the addition of Woodmansee “we can now offer another essential legal service to clients in these markets and beyond”.
Prior to Jones Day, Woodmansee was a partner at Morrison & Foerster.
