Global law firm White & Case LLP has expanded its Global Banking Practice with the addition of Fernando Navarro as a partner in Madrid.

"White & Case has a long track record of building strong ‘on-the-ground' presences in key local markets which connect across our global network and, in turn, enable us to help clients navigate the complexities of an ever-changing international market," said White & Case partner Eric Leicht, Head of the Firm's Global Banking Practice. "Fernando's arrival in Madrid is a perfect illustration – he adds materially to the service we provide to our clients as we continue to grow our role across EMEA advising both lenders and borrowers."

Navarro, who is dual-qualified to practice in Spain and England and Wales, focuses on financing transactions through both syndicated and bilateral loans, as well as derivatives, structured products, securitisation and debt capital markets. He has also advised numerous international and Spanish banks on portfolio disposals, as well as a number of funds acquiring portfolios. In addition, Navarro has experience in asset finance, trade finance, aviation finance, project finance and financial regulation. He joins White & Case from Ashurst, where he was a partner and Co-Head of the Spanish Finance Team, and brings more than 25 years of experience.

"Fernando is one of Spain's leading finance lawyers who regularly advises key international and Spanish banks, as well as international and Spanish funds and other companies across a wide range of sectors," said White & Case partner David Plch, Regional Section Head, EMEA Banking. "His experience and versatility add further strength and depth to our Madrid office, which has continued to grow since opening in 2013."

Partner Oliver Brettle, a member of White & Case's global Executive Committee, said: "Fernando's addition underlines our commitment to providing clients with strong English law capabilities across EMEA, and follows last year's arrival in Milan of partner Alessandro Nolet who is qualified under English and Italian law. Fernando also helps us to continue building a strong banking practice in EMEA and supports our strategic focus on global growth in the financial institutions industry. He joins a strong EMEA banking team that has continued to expand since the beginning of 2018 with the arrival of six lateral partners and seven internal partner promotions."
