NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--International law firm Dorsey & Whitney LLP announced today that Michael J. McCarthy has joined the Firm’s Real Estate & Land Use Practice Group in New York as a Partner.
Mr. McCarthy’s practice focuses on the representation of commercial lenders and borrowers in connection with mortgage and mezzanine financing secured by commercial real estate. His practice includes the representation of clients in connection with real estate capital markets transactions, including repurchase facilities. He also represents clients in connection with the acquisition and disposition of real property, including the formation of joint ventures. His experience includes the acquisition and disposition of whole loans, participation interests and subordinate notes. In addition, he has experience with loan workouts, restructurings and foreclosures.
Mr. McCarthy joins Dorsey from Haynes & Boone LLP, where he was a partner in that firm’s real estate practice in New York.
He has a B.A. degree from Emory University and a J.D. degree from St. John’s University School of Law where he was a Senior Staff Member of the American Bankruptcy Institute Law Review and an editor of the New York Real Property Law Journal.
